A report this week that showed a growing number of Canadians are cutting the cord on their cable TV service should come as no surprise. It’s getting easier to access online entertainment with a variety of devices, from Roku’s latest Streaming Stick to an Apple TV set top box. And now Ottawa company Nuvyyo has created a box that combines the utility of a DVR with the convenience of a mobile app to allow TV viewers to record and watch television content picked up from over- the- air HDTV signals. If you live in a major city, like Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal and even some smaller cities, with an antenna you could have a selection of a dozen channels and more. The Tablo costs $ 220, with a program guide subscription costing $ 4.99 a month, $ 49.99 a year or a one- time lifetime fee of $ 149.99.
Lenovo A- Series Android Tablets $ 149 to $ 309
Lenovo is off ering customers three diff erent options with its new A- series tab lineup — the A7 with seven- inch screen, the eight- inch A8 version and the full- sized 10.1- inch Tab A10 with an optional Bluetooth keyboard. At the budget end, the Tab A7 starts at $ 149 and comes in two versions — the A7- 50 with a two- megapixel front- facing camera and a fi ve MP rear camera — and the eight gigabyte A7- 40, which has a front camera for video chatting but no rear camera. Lightroom Mobile $ 9.99/ month
After you’ve taken all those photos on the new Olympus Stylus Tough, you’ll want to edit and organize them. Lightroom fans will be happy to see the software delivered to the iPad as part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud photography program. The mobile Lightroom app, a companion to the desktop version, is added to the Creative Cloud program that includes Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 for $ 9.99 US a month.
