THE PLAYOFF SKINNY

Montreal Canadiens at Boston Bruins

When: Today, 4 p. m., CBC The series: Tied 2- 2 The skinny: Now the teams mean business. And so, apparently, do the fans. After all, an elementary school in Quebec decided to cancel a Montreal Canadiens jersey day entirely, pretty much fearing what might happen if some kids decide to wear Boston Bruins jerseys. Then there’s this “off - day fact,” courtesy of Saskatchewan’s Rob Swallow on Twitter: “Bruins have 16 players who were born in Canada. The Canadiens have 13. Habs must secretly hate Canadians.” Ah, Game 5. Bring it on.

Anaheim Ducks at Los Angeles Kings

When: Saturday, 6: 30 p. m., TSN The series: Kings lead 2- 1 The skinny: What a wacky season for Teemu Selanne. The 43- year- old fi nally realized his career might be fi nishing, as he played fewer and fewer minutes for the Ducks. He managed to grab another Olympic bronze medal and he’s remained positive — not easy to do when he was scratched for one game in the fi rst round against Dallas. But Selanne scored a huge goal in Game 3, and scored a huge goal in Game 1 despite the loss and clearly hasn’t given up. “The reason Selanne has got almost 700 goals is because he goes to the net and stops,” said Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau.
