With Father’s Day Sunday, many sons and daughters are faced with the annual dilemma of what to get the man who says he doesn’t want anything, but always expects something.

And why shouldn’t he? After all, dads do so much for us and ask for so little in return. Dads teach us a lot of life lessons, not to mention some practical skills such as a how to throw a ball, ride a bike and drive a car.

If that sounds like your father, why not get him something he’ll want and enjoy for Father’s Day this year? Tickets to the FIFA World Cup may not be practical, so consider instead something he can use in and around the car. Here’s a list of potential car- related gift ideas for this Father’s Day:

For the garage- dwelling dad: He probably has every tool you can think of, but what about a good place to store them? Instead of having him search through the number of rusty old tool boxes collected over the years, why not buy him something bigger that fits everything? There are a lot of different models available, including a deluxe tool box with a fridge to store cold drinks while he’s changing the tires.

For the direction- challenged dad: You know he won’t stop and ask for directions, so why not get dad a GPS system for the car? There are a number of makes and models available at prices ranging from $ 50 to more than $ 400. If your dad is computer- challenged, you also might want to be prepared to set up the system for him, and then show him how to use it.

For the look- cool dad: There are only a few things in life that can help a man look cool, and one of them is a nice pair of shades. Get your dad a pair of sunglasses for Father’s Day, and not only will he look good, but his eyes also will be well- protected as he hits the road during the sunny summer months.

For the music- loving dad: Whether it’s his Johnny Cash collection or the reissued Led Zeppelin albums, helping dad enjoy his favourite music in the car is another great gift idea. There are a number of smartphone and iPod car- connectors on the market that will allow dad to carry his music collection wherever he goes. If you travel in the car a lot with your father, you may want to consider this gift very carefully, depending on how well he can carry a tune.

For the chatty dad: Help make it safer ( and legal) for dad to take those constant calls from you with a handsfree microphone set that plugs directly into the MP3/ aux input of most vehicles. With the click of a button, he can answer or end phone calls and transmit high- quality phone conversations through his car’s speakers without having to touch his mobile device.

If he has been really good this year, well, perhaps even a new car is in the cards for dad! Of course, spending time with your dear old dad is another great way to celebrate the day. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
