Homework for Habitat

Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 across Canada are asked to write an essay about what their home means to them, and submit it to Meaningofhome. ca to help families in need of a home.

The Genworth Canada contest is now in its eighth year. The company will donate $ 60,000 to a Habitat project of the grand prize winner’s choice, and publish the student’s essay in an illustrated book. Other prizes include a $ 5,000 donation to each of five runners- up’s Habitat project of choice ( and each winner gets an iPod and a pizza party for their class).

As well, Genworth, a mortgage insurer, will donate $ 5 per entry to local Habitat builds where the essays are submitted. In 2013, 7,000 essays were submitted.
