Free beer. So that’s what the Vancouver Canucks meant when they said change was coming. Actually, probably not, but the Canucks will be handing out a free beer to fans attending Saturday’s home- opener at Rogers Arena against the Edmonton Oilers. All fans attending the National Hockey League game will receive their choice of a complimentary Budweiser, Shock Top beer, Pepsi or bottled water. Doors to Rogers Arena open at 5: 30 p. m. and the puck drops just after 7 p. m. As of Friday afternoon, tickets were still available for the game. Here are some of the other things happening inside and outside the arena tonight:

• A pre- game party featuring food, music and other entertainment starts at 5 p. m. on the North Plaza;

• Inside, Vancouver- based rock band Dear Rouge highlights the game entertainment lineup. New Canucks’ in- house DJs Marlon English and Jay Wallace will spin tunes;

• A new opening video. GO 2 Productions has created a 3D animated ice projection show as part of the opening. The players will be introduced individually before the game.

• The annual Jerseys Off Our Backs promotion goes after the game when each player will give away their game- worn jersey to a fan;

• There will be fan giveaways during each timeout, including a pair of 2014- 15 season tickets; • The Canucks are now running their own food and drinks operation inside Rogers Arena and have introduced several new menu items.
