After the fi nal whistle, the Caps stayed on the fi eld for several minutes to celebrate the fact they managed to retain the Cascadia Cup, the supporters- sponsored trophy that goes to the top team in the Pacifi c Northwest. The Caps fi nished the three- team, in- season competitio­n with 10 points off a 3- 2- 1 record. Seattle was 2- 2- 2 and Portland 2- 3- 1. Captain Pedro Morales hoisted the Cup over his head, than ran it to the corner of the fi eld, below where 1,250 Caps fans were seated in the upper deck of CenturyLin­k Field. The players then raced toward the Cup en masse, sliding onto their knees as the fans roared. “The win today was for the supporters, they thoroughly deserve it,” said head coach Carl Robinson.
