Private Residences at Hotel Georgia:

Sun readers vote for Best Residential Highrise

-

Its list of one- time guests reads like the who’s who of the 20th century — among them, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong and even the Queen. Now the historic Hotel Georgia’s companion tower, the Private Residences at the Hotel Georgia, is ready to usher in a new modern chapter.

On Nov. 26, it earned special recognition at the 2014 UDI Awards for Excellence.

More than 8,600 Vancouver Sun readers voted in The UDI/ Vancouver Sun Readers’ Choice Award — a three- fold increase over 2012 — and selected the Private Residences as best highrise, with a total of 2,167 votes.

The project is the work of Delta Land Development Ltd., the North American division of the Delta Group of companies, a global firm with offices in Singapore, London and Vancouver. The company joined with IBI Group, an award- winning team of talented architects and designers with more than 2,900 employees in 76 offices around the world. Mitchell Freedland Design, known for its projects in China, Japan, Europe and North America, is the project’s interior designer.

The 48- storey, 156- metre sleek and modern tower includes 11 floors of commercial space and 156 residential suites. It was constructed on the adjoining site of the hotel’s parking structure.

The second tallest tower in the city, it has both environmentally friendly features and good looks. Delta met its objectives to exceed mandated sustainability and environmental standards. Power Smart Building status was achieved for all aspects of the development, including the restored heritage hotel.

The Private Residences also won the award for Best Environmental Innovation at the UDI Awards for Excellence.
