Films feature dogs, dragon and music

My Boyfriends’ Dogs: Bedraggled runaway bride Bailey Daley (Erika Christensen, Parenthood) dashes into a small diner with three dogs in tow and regales the eatery’s owners with an account of her long and frustrating search for Mr. Right, in this romantic comedy adapted from Dandi Daley Mackall’s novel. (Showcase — 5 p.m.)

Adventures of a Teenage Dragonslayer: Actor- turned- director Andrew Lauer reunited with his former castmates from the 1995-99 sitcom Caroline in the City, Lea Thompson, Eric Lutes and Amy Pietz, for this liveaction fantasy about a meek 12-year- old high school nerd (Hunter Allan) whose life is transformed when he is recruited by a troll to help defeat a dangerous dragon. (Toon — 7 p.m.)

Hairspray: It started as a John Waters-directed movie, then transitioned into a hit stage musical — and it comes full circle in its more tuneful film incarnation. John Travolta make an amusing gender switch as Edna Turnblad, mother of aspiring 1960s dance-show participant Tracy (Nikki Blonsky). (ABC — 8 p.m.)
