Tax hitting low-income earners

-

Once again MSP premiums have gone up, but it has been five years since the income threshold at which one has to start paying them has been raised. The last one was January 2010 when it went from $28,000 to $30,000.

As a senior couple who have had modest increases in our Old Age Security and Canada Pension Plan pensions in the last five years, we have been pushed into paying higher premiums. This is happening to a lot of lower income families. It is time for seniors to contact their MLAs and pressure the Liberal government to raise the income threshold for MSP premiums.
