Travellers take flight from ferries

Re: No holiday cheer for Metro ferry travellers to Gulf Islands, Column, Dec. 30

I have been a regular commuter to the Gulf Islands for many years. In the past, I would take the ferry when prices were reasonable. With the significant increases to ferry fares, we now have travel options.

Which option would people choose to commute to the Southern Gulf Islands? Option A: Travel to Tsawwassen and take a 2 ½ -hour ferry that costs $90 for car and driver. Or Option B: Travel to YVR South terminal on the river and enjoy a 15-minute ride in a seaplane for $100. I can assure you that I, and many other regular commuters, now choose Option B.
