Ted Baker London, the luxury clothing label for men and women, is among nine new retailers that will be moving into an expanded Pacific Centre shopping mall by early summer.

It will be Ted Baker London’s second outlet in Canada; the other is in Toronto.

Ted Baker and the other retailers will be going into the basement level of what was once Sears, the previous tenant of the building bounded by Granville, Robson and Howe. A new entrance to Pacific Centre is being built at Robson and Granville, giving people direct access to the mall.

Once the expansion is finished, the Pacific Centre mall will extend from Pender Street to Robson Street.

“These stores will enhance the shopping experience for our customers and give them another reason to shop downtown,” Tom Knoepfel, senior vice-president and portfolio manager for Cadillac Fairview, said in a news release. “Having the best selection of international fashion and tech retailers in one convenient location is a key factor in Pacific Centre’s continued success.”

Also new are retailers B2, Boss Store, Kate Spade, Microsoft, Pandora, Rockport, Tumi, and Weekend Max Mara. Cadillac Fairview says it will announce four more retailers in the coming weeks; they will open this fall.

The reconstructed building is designed by architect James K.M. Cheng. It will house Vancouver’s first Nordstrom department store on the first three above-ground floors. Sony Pictures Imageworks, the Vancouver offices of Microsoft, and the law firm Miller Thomson will be on the top four levels.

Once dubbed The Great White Urinal, the original building was designed by Cesar Pelli and opened in 1973 as Eaton’s. Eaton’s went out of business in 1999 and Sears moved in. Cadillac Fairview is owned by the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
