Stella McCartney collection nails the nude look
Models in the Stella McCartney spring 2016 runway show sported a surprisingly attainable style element — nail polish from Sally Hansen.
The brand’s “global colour ambassador,” Madeline Pool, created nude nail looks for the British designer’s latest collection showcase.
“We used Almost Almond, a nude shade lightly dusted with a silver fleck giving it a pearlescent quality,” Poole said in a news release.
“I wanted to use something with semi coverage that would act as an illuminator or glow on the nails.”
McCartney’s collection included structured jackets, bucket bags, slip dresses and more in seasonal spring shades and dark silhouettes with bright accents.
Club Monaco partners with Jean Shop
Club Monaco denim is about to get a big boost thanks to a collaboration with Eric Goldstein of Jean Shop.
The retailer announced the partnership with the denim guru for a men’s line of raw selvage denim with an emphasis on cut and fabrication.
“Hand distressing is processing that is literally done by hand on every pair of jeans,” Eric Goldstein said in a press release of his go-to treatment. “There are certain tools that are used to distress the hems of the jeans and to make whiskers and give the jean an overall vintage esthetic.
“This is the old school way of crafting a jean by hand.”
Made in Los Angeles and New York City, the Club Monaco x Jean Shop collection will be launched with a behind-thescenes series on social media that promises to provide, “unprecedented access inside the Jean Shop to explore the artful process that goes into making each and every pair of jeans.”
The collection will be priced from $155 to $800 and is expected to land in stores this month.
Burberry Bucket Bags come to Vancouver
The British fashion brand named its Shangri-La Hotel boutique location one of 12 international flagship destinations slated to carry its 12 limited edition Bucket Bag designs.
“The Bucket Bag is the latest addition to the Burberry Accessories collection,” a press release stated. “Introduced during the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2015 womenswear show, The Bucket Bag is inspired by the bohemian spirit of the collection, and is crafted in soft English suede, graphic animal print shearling and tiered fringing.”
Vancouver fashion fans will be pleased to learn they are in good company for the launch as the release will also be exclusively available in some of the world’s top style destinations including London, Barcelona, Milan and Beijing.

Disney, Vans collaborate on Young at Heart line
Being Young at Heart is now as simple as slipping on a pair of classic Vans shoes — more or less.
The Southern California-based footwear company partnered with Disney to release a new collection of shoes, apparel and accessories for men, women and children — all featuring Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.
“The collaboration provides a unique interpretation from Vans of iconic Disney characters that remain true to the Vans design esthetic with added details that make this sought-after collection one of a kind,” a news release stated.
Fans of the Disney princesses can get their fix from another collaboration debuting at the same time, which includes five footwear options as well as apparel and accessories, emblazoned with Ariel, Belle, Jasmine — or a combination of all the timeless beauties including Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. The Young at Heart and Disney Princess collection, which is priced between $15 and $90, hits select Vans stores nationwide and online at vans. com/Disney on June 13.
Dish and DU-ER denim shop pops up
Dish and DU-ER denim, the men’s and women’s jeans line from veteran denim guru Gary Lenett, is hosting a pop-up shop in Vancouver.
The retail space, at 100-339 Railway St. in Vancouver, features Dish denim designs as well as the men’s performance denim crafted from the brands’ L2X (leisure to extreme) and N2X (nature to extreme) fabrics.
“The fabric(s) ... combine Coolmax and Tencel to offer moisture management, temperature control, and anti-bacterial properties,” a news release stated. “Lenett also innovated the design to include lined pockets that protect males against cellphone radiation and dark/reflective branding that can be spotted by night drivers as the denim is fit for bike commuting.”
