A powerful and luxurious necessity of life

2016 CADILLAC ATS WILL KEEP YOU EXCITED, AND IN CONTROL, THROUGH LIFE’S TWISTS AND TURNS

-

Think about some of your favourite accessories.

The things that enhance your life no matter what the situation is.

Maybe it’s that perfect pair of sweatpants that take you to a place of peace and comfort on a crummy day.

Or the necklace your grandmother gave you that looks good with everything. The tie that matches any colour of suit in your closet and is appropriate for any occasion.

Some view their vehicle as an accessory. In a way, it is. But to others, a car is a necessity, and preferably one that looks good in every situation and for every occasion.

Enter the 2016 Cadillac ATS: the North American brand’s entry- level luxury sedan or coupe.

Introducing a vehicle into a segment that was dominated by the Germans was a bold move. But a necessary one.

When the vehicle hit the streets in 2012 as a 2013 model, it impressed the automotive press, as well as potential sports sedan buyers. For 2016 it gets that much better.

Available in both coupe and sedan formats, it is the perfect luxury accessory for your life.

You can dress it up, or down. There are three available engines with horsepower ranging from 202 to 333. Note: those figures don’t include the ATS-V, the savage sibling whose ratings measure in at 455 horsepower and 445 lbs.-ft of torque.

Aside from having lavish seats in which your body moulds to easily, the driving experience is top notch.

A near 50/50 weight distribution and Cadillac’s first five-link independent rear suspension keeps you excited, and stable, through life’s twists and turns.

Even if your commute is spent amidst the daily grind of Lion’s Gate Bridge traffic, the Stanley Park Causeway or inching along Georgia street in the thick of rush hour traffic, those woes are melted when you hit the s-curves. Gridlock is a product of downtown travel/living here on the coast, but the experience of sitting in a cabin that’s quiet and calming, makes it just that much better.

A competent chassis is then coupled with an all-new, 3.6-litre direct injection V-6 engine with Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and fuel-saving stop/start technology.

Like those infomercials say, “But wait, there’s more…”

The new engine comes with a new Hydra-Matic eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. In fact, all ATS engines are offered with it so you won’t feel left out.

While captaining the ATS – coupe or sedan – there’s a sense of style that’s associated with it.

Not only does it look great on the outside, there’s an elegance to the interior, too.

And the heart of the interior only requires you to look at the centre stack, where you’ll find Cadillac’s CUE system.

The DNA of CUE — Cadillac User Experience — is made up of an eight-inch LCD multi-touch sensitive screen, integrated into the top of the central instrument panel and featuring a motorized, fully capacitive faceplate. And there’s a clever catch. The screen actually conceals a 1.8-litre storage area. Should you wish to tuck away any precious items, you don’t need to lock them in the glove box. Just put them behind the screen!

And since the world is driven by technology, CUE won’t leave you behind. The vibrant LCD screen resembles a smartphone’s screen, with large, easy-to-target icons to execute commands. It enhances connectivity in the Cadillac ATS by allowing smartphone users to connect with apps such as navigation, hands-free text messaging, entertainment and news directly through the CUE’s display screen

Cadillac’s CUE system is like having a concierge at the tip of your fingers. When parking the car at the valet, switch the system to “valet mode” so none of your pertinent personal information can be accessed – like your navigation destinations.

The system is available on standard models and included on Luxury, Performance and Premium Collections.

Complementing the CUE system is the available OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot.

Who knew that your gorgeous car could be a mobile hotspot?

This feature provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected. The hotspot is on whenever the vehicle is on and comes with a three-month/ three-gigabyte data trial.

What comes standard on all models is a sense of satisfaction. Not only because it performs – regardless of engine choice – but because it’s a vehicle that ignites feelings of success, hard work and never giving up no matter how hard things get.

And then coming out on top, only to do it over again.

The 2016 Cadillac ATS won’t quit until it is number one. Much like their owners.
