Let’s just say it’s going to be a good time to check some holiday presents off the ol’ buying list.

Shopping goes green with Erdem and Net-a-Porter

Fans of Montreal-born, Britain-based designer Erdem Moralioglu can get their hands on a selection of the designer’s first sustainable creations for his eponymous label on Net-a-Porter.com.

The online retailer launched a curated collection from Erdem’s The London 2015 Green Carpet Collection — a range which saw the designer work alongside Eco-Age, a brand consultancy that focuses on sustainability, to release a full collection meeting the Green Carpet Challenge Brandmark criteria.

“It is so important to us at Net-a-Porter to not only deliver the best style edit of global fashion to our customers, but that we do so in an ethical and responsible manner whenever possible,” Sarah Rutson, vicepresident of global buying at Net-a-Porter, said in a news release.

“Partnering with Erdem and Eco-Age on this initiative is not only exciting, as the collection is so beautiful, but also it’s an opportunity to demonstrate that beauty and ethics are not mutually exclusive. Our hope is that initiatives like these will continue to raise the industry’s awareness and adoption of sustainable production practices.”

The limited range includes four dresses, each crafted from “reused, surplus or sustainably certified materials.”

“I loved the idea of creating a collection that had a really human hand to it and wanted to create pieces that felt beautiful and special and that challenged the common perception of ‘eco’ fashion,” Moralioglu said in the news release.

The Erdem dresses are available now at Net-a-Porter.com.
