Re: Plugging in cars no simple climate solution: report, Nov. 28

I read with great interest the article around incentivizing British Columbians to purchase Clean Energy Vehicles (CEVs).

As the Chief Executive Officer of the BC SCRAP-IT program, I was particularly impressed with the idea of allowing Clean Energy Vehicles into B.C.’s HOV lanes.

I feel that these types of innovative non-monetary incentives would provide another layer of benefits to British Columbians interested in participating in positive response to climate change.

As such, our organization fully supports the New Car Dealers Association’s position on HOV lane allowances for electric vehicles.

Climate change is at the forefront of the minds of British Columbians.

This opportunity will allow individuals to respond to climate change personally, and we look forward to doing our part in assisting them through initiatives like SCRAP-IT and CEVforBC.

To date, SCRAP-IT has removed over 39,000 older polluting vehicles from B.C. roads.
