Farms get unfair break
Re: Farmers say no to dozens of nuptials, Dec. 3
Farmers selling wedding services on farmland have an unfair property tax advantage over similar businesses located in the commercially zoned area.
Having different property tax rates for competing business in a community is not good economic development policy and not fair to those businesses paying the full commercial tax rate.
Farmers looking to expand their farm income should add value to their farm products rather than provide non-farm services where they have an unfair tax advantage over other businesses in the community.
