Man charged in death of pet

Kamloops resident Christopher Mathes has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly beating the family dog to death last Thanksgiving. Jersey, a fiveyear-old chihuahua cross, bit one of the guests at a family dinner in October 2015, according to a BC SPCA news release.
