Man in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by gunfire

- SURREY

A man has been hospitalized after gunfire broke out in Surrey. RCMP said the shooting in the 12200 block of 92nd Avenue early Saturday evening was the 29th case of shots fired to Surrey RCMP this year.

Police say the shooting victim is in serious condition but is expected to survive. The shooting appears to be targeted.

The incident came just a day after Surrey RCMP revealed that shootings are again on the rise. Five people have been injured and one has been killed in the 29 reports of shots fired since Jan. 1. Police said all the shootings are linked to disputes over drug territory or dial-a-dope lines.
