Chilliwack man faces handful of charges

-

A 20-year-old Chilliwack man faces charges for weapons and property crimes after police received reports of a man threatening another man with a knife. The RCMP’s Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment said that James Marvin Haslam, 20, is in custody after being charged with possession of ammunition while prohibited from doing so; possession of property obtained by a crime; possession of break in instruments; two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm; and assault with a weapon. Haslam is scheduled to appear in court in mid-April. Police said the charges stem from a March 12 incident when the detachment received a report of a man allegedly waving a knife while threatening another man outside of a business in the 45,000-block of Yale Road. Evidence gathered by officers linked Haslam to stolen property and the possession of break-in instruments.
