G-EAZY: WHEN IT’S DARK OUT TOUR
The California rapper made a huge splash with his 2014 debut The Endless Summer, building his tracks and raps on ’50s- and early ’60s-era doo-wop. His new album drops the retro style, but is an unusually musical and melodic hip-hop release. Like many shows on this fastrising star’s tour, the originally booked venue was too small; it now takes place in a stadium triple the size. 7:30 p.m. | PNE Coliseum (new venue) Tickets: $45-$151, livenation.com
WATCH
HAIL, CAESAR!
The Coen Brothers’ latest perfectly cast caper is an homage to Hollywood’s 1950s Golden era. The razzle-dazzle comedy (best viewed on the big screen) may have more gags than plot, but George Clooney’s performance is an outrageous stunner. With Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, and another scene stealer, Channing Tatum. 6:30 p.m. | Rio Theatre Tickets: $10/12, riotheatre.ca
DANCE
A TRIBE CALLED RED (DJ SET)
You can bet the three artists in this crew (DJ NDN, Bear Witness and 2oolman) have dynamite music collections. Their own tracks are a fiery fusion of instrumental hiphop, reggae and First Nations music. 10 p.m. | Fortune Sound Club Sold out
