MARK PADMORE AND PAUL LEWIS

-

Two of the most acclaimed British artists of their generation perform some of the most heartfelt music ever written for piano and voice, as tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Paul Lewis pair Robert Schumann’s Lieder to Poems by Heinrich Heine. The romantic Schumann often relied on Heine’s extremes of elation and despair, tempering the emotion with introspective dreaminess or fuelling the passion with ravishing, rocking rhythms. The program also includes dynamic song cycles by Brahms and the duo Franz Schubert and Hugo Wolff. April 10, 3 p.m. | Chan Centre Tickets and info: $25, vanrecital.com
