KEITHMAS VII: A FOOD BANK FUNDRAGER

-

When: Friday at 8 p.m. Where: Rickshaw Theatre Tickets: Tickets: $15 at ticketweb.ca

Shawn Conner has the lowdown on this year’s lineup:

1. Bif Naked

The alt-rock hitmaker comes out of musical semiretirement (she spent much of 2016 promoting I Bificus, her memoir) for this event, which celebrates Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones, and Christmas, more or less in that order.

2. No Sinner

With her dyed-in-bourbon voice, Colleen Rennison, pictured above, was born to sing the Stones. See the singer and her band, who finally released their long-awaited second album earlier this year, tear it up on raunchy renditions of Stones classics.

3. The pros

For returning champs Rich Hope and La Chinga, this year’s edition is a chance to once again pay homage to the Rolling Stones guitarist — and maybe show off some new/ old licks they’ve learned in the last year.

4. The new guys

While some performers are old hands at celebrating the Rolling Stones guitarist at this annual windup, for others it’s an opportunity to play for a new audience (and, of course, to raise money for a good cause, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank). Newbies this year include Orange Kyte, a local psychedelic quartet that issued a single (or is that “syngle”?) a month in 2016.

5. Prizes

Don’t care about Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones or even (gasp!) Jack Daniel’s? Show up to try to win one of this year’s prizes, which include a Fender Telecaster, a guitar amp and pedal.
