Ovechkin’s long shot streak over

-

Something was missing from the Washington Capitals’ scoresheet Thursday for the first time since March 12, 2013: a shot on goal by Alex Ovechkin. It was the first time the sniper didn’t record a shot in 315 games. Ovechkin had four hits and two missed shots in 13:54 of ice time, just one second off his career low for a full game. That the shot streak was snapped in a 6-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings was somewhat ironic, given Ovechkin logged a whopping 15 shots on goal in a game against Detroit last season.
