SPLASHY SPRITZES

- aharris@postmedia.com ALEESHA HARRIS

Facial mists are having a big moment in beauty.

Virtually every brand is offering some type of spritz that instantly hydrates, tones or refreshes skin (or all of the above). But few brands are dedicating their entire product range to said spritzes. B.C.-based beauty brand Imbue Goods is doing just that, with a full collection of facial mists featuring rosewater. Matt Coles, co-founder of Imbue chatted with Postmedia News about the benefits of rose, being different from other brands and coming up with a “heavenly” idea.

Q When and why did you start Imbue Goods?

A My business partner Kinnersley Craig and I thought up Imbue when we were skiing on 7th Heaven at Whistler Blackcomb in May 2016. My wife Tara had created some aromatherapy mists and Kinney and I were discussing business ideas on a picture-perfect spring day. We had this eureka moment that the mists were “heavenly” and quickly started brainstorming other names for the blends.

Q How is it different from other skin-care brands?

A We saw a lot of water with essential oil body sprays on the market plus many other pure rosewater sprays. We wanted to create a refreshing, revitalizing experience that could be enjoyed anywhere, that felt amazing, and was great for your skin. Our all-natural handcrafted rosewater mists contain no alcohol, are safe to use as face, body and linen sprays and are perfectly sized for airline travel.

Q You use rosewater in your facial sprays. Why choose this ingredient in particular? A It’s an easy choice for the primary ingredient in our face and body mists. It’s filled with antioxidants and has natural antiseptic, anti-bacterial and anti-depressant qualities.

Q And what are some of the benefits of rosewater for skin?

A Rosewater is great for all skin types. It cools, soothes, restores and cleanses oily skin. It revitalizes mature skin. It helps unclog and tighten pores and helps balance the skin’s natural oils. If used throughout the day, it will keep your skin feeling nourished, revived and revitalized.

Q What are some of the other ingredients in your mists?

A We use Clearbrook water from Abbotsford, the 2016 winner of World’s Best Municipal Water, and 100 per cent steam-distilled, sustainably farmed rosewater from Lebanon. We use a local Vancouver supplier for our essential oils and we do our best to source natural, sustainable

and organic ingredients whenever possible. Q Where are the products made? A Burnaby. Q What is the price point of the mists? A $22 for 60 millilitres. Q Where can people check them out?

A Online at ImbueGoods.com, in Vancouver at Hunter and Hare, Art Parts Film Services, Cadence Cycling Studio, Escape Travel Wear in North Vancouver, at Mille Fiori Spa and Thorn & Thistle Flowers in Victoria and Solace Wellness Centre in Nanaimo.

Q What’s next for the brand? Any upcoming launches or plans to expand the line?

A In terms of new products, we’re looking to expand our rosewater mists selection for spring 2017. And for Valentine’s Day this year we’re including a beautiful Lux Et Terra travel candle with all purchases over $40.
