Hawaiian history woven into the very fabric of new resort
It’s been more than a halfcentury since Maui’s first master-planned town began to take shape with the construction of the Kaanapali Beach Resort.
Today, Kaanapali counts more than a dozen major resorts, a number of private condominium developments, two championship golf courses and a bustling outdoor shopping centre.
And in less than two months, a brand new resort opens on 16 oceanfront acres on North Kaanapali Beach.
The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas features one-, two- and three-bedroom villas, ideal for families looking to relax in comfort, style and Hawaiian culture. “Nanea” means relaxation in the native language, and Westin’s director of culture Makalapua Kanuha has been helping to guide the development since its inception to ensure Hawaiian culture has been carefully woven into architectural elements throughout the property.
At the heart of the resort is the Pu’uhonua o Nanea Cultural Center, offering innovative and educational cultural offerings that honour local history, language, art, crafts, music and dance.
The resort opens in April, and there is currently an introductory offer on two-bedroom resort view villas called Discover Nanea (a four-night minimum length of stay is required).
It includes a $250 resort credit, a spa treatment credit, and complimentary select in-house resort activity for two.
