VW teases new electric crossover for Shanghai show

- NEIL VORANO Driving.ca

Volkswagen has announced that by the middle of the next decade the company will be building more electric vehicles under the Volkswagen ID name.

It has already showcased two of them in the past year, at least in concept form: the ID and the ID Buzz. And the automaker may be preparing to showcase its third EV concept at the upcoming Shanghai motor show — Auto Shanghai — April 21 to 28 in China.

The company teased a photo on its media website this week, referring to the all-wheel-drive concept as the brand’s “first electrically powered crossover utility vehicle (CUV) — a four-door coupe and sport utility vehicle (SUV) in one.”

There’s not much information available on the vehicle, but VW says it will have the range of a gasoline-powered car and will have full autonomous capability — so you know it’s nowhere near production ready.
