U.S. CONSIDERING PULLING OUT OF UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL: AMBASSADOR
The United States is “looking carefully” at whether it will continue to participate in the UN Human Rights Council, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley said Tuesday in a short speech that slammed the council on several fronts. In a four-minute address at the opening of the council’s three-week summer session, Haley, pictured, urged reform of the 47-member body, criticized its “chronic anti-Israel bias” and said “no human rights violator” should be allowed a seat. She indicated the U.S. sees “areas for significant strengthening” of the council, and was “looking carefully at this council and our participation in it.”
