A warming stew from The Rock
Two energetic food sleuths have travelled Canada coast to coast, asking questions, following up leads to the best local cooks, food stores, farms and restaurants, and writing what turned out to be an outstanding storybook about their adventures.
Called Feast: Recipes & Stories from a Canadian Road Trip (Appetite by Random House, 2017), Vancouver bloggers Lindsay Anderson and Dana VanVeller determined there is no one Canadian cuisine, for there is fresh, local food in every region of the country, each a little bit different from the other. It’s the best and most comprehensive look at Canadian food yet, and as interesting for readers as for cooks.
The owners of Chinched Bistro in St. John’s, N.L., provided the authors with this warming stew; you can speed up the making by using canned beans.
