Looking for a summer skin reset that’s plant powered? You may want to head to Yaletown.

Vancouver-based skin care centre Collective Skin Care, located on the second floor of the BeautyMark boutique, recently announced the addition of Tata Harper Total Complexion Reset treatments to its spa menu.

Available in two iterations — the Complete Radiance Revive Treatment ($195 for 60 minutes) and the Radiance Uplift Treatment ($70 for 30 minutes) — the skin-benefiting therapy includes multiple applications of naturally sourced acids to brighten skin and improve overall skin tone.

The Total Complexion Reset is a new 100 per cent natural multiacid peel containing 22 highperformance ingredients that restores evens to the skin tone and brightens the overall look of the skin, said a news release.

Alpha hydroxy acid, poly hydroxy acid, and beta hydroxy acid derived from organic sources like hibiscus flowers, fermented rice, fruit and sugar acids, willow bark and meadowsweet are all employed in the treatment.

The release said that “by stimulating exfoliation and cell renewal, as well as providing moisturization, they provide anti-aging benefits and help to reveal smoother, younger and brighter looking skin.”

So, we stopped in to find out. Our tester was intrigued by the promise of a peel that required “no downtime, no redness, and just glow.”

Kathryn Sawers, the spa’s owner and practitioner, begins the treatment with a pore-opening steam and gentle cleansing regime.

Informing of the possibility of slight discomfort that may occur during the active acid application in advance, Sawers is attentive and checks in regularly to ensure you’re comfortable during the

peel. Our tester reported mild tingling while the peel was on the skin, but the sensation wasn’t uncomfortable and it stopped immediately with removal.

After the peels are applied and removed, Sawers treats skin to another cleanse and a raw honey mask.

Post-treatment, our tester reported her skin felt smooth and “glowy” without any redness or discomfort.

While you won’t get the same type of results as would be expected from a treatment such as a chemical peel or laser procedure, this treatment may be the perfect option for those looking for a seasonal skin boost without the downtime of a more aggressive or invasive treatment.
