Woof Weekend at The Westin Resort & Spa Whistler
You know when your dog looks up at you with those melting brown eyes and you understand your best friend is trying to tell you something, but you have no idea what it is? Well, your furry companion is probably saying that the fourth annual Woof Weekend is just around the corner and that he/she would love to attend, and could you get right on that, please? Woof Weekend is the event of the year for dogs and those who love them, and it goes down at The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler October 13-15. It’s an entire weekend of fun, featuring hikes, picnic lunches, seminars and demonstrations, a pet marketplace and a big finish—the K9 Wine & Dine Gala, where dressing up is encouraged for all, and slobbery table manners are just part of the show. And best of all, the K9 Wine and Dine is a fundraising event in support of Whistler Animals Galore (WAG), the local animal shelter. “Oh, the dinner is amazing!” says Westin spokesperson Naomi Pitt. “Lots of guests dress their dogs up in crazy costumes. Last year, one little guy started howling and the next thing you know every dog in the whole ballroom was howling along with him!” “Every year this event just gets bigger and more fun,” Pitt continues. “Volunteers from Whistler Animals Galore act as ‘doggy butlers’ and you get to walk the red carpet and be photographed with your dog, and we even have a doggie fashion show. For me, though, the best part of the weekend is just being anywhere in the hotel—there are adorable puppies everywhere you look!” Treat your four-legged friend to a Woof Weekend package that includes a two night stay at The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler, all canine-related activities, and the K9 Wine & Dine Gala (tickets for the gala are also sold separately). Everyone is welcome to stop by The Westin and check out the pet marketplace and fashion show, and to mingle with furry guests. Find out more at woofweekend.com.
