TOYOTA CANADA: STAYING IN FRONT OF NEW MOBILITY TECHNOLOGIES

- LARRY HUTCHINSON

We don’t just talk about finding ways to make things better, we actually make things better.

And we’re not just a car company, but one that stays at the forefront of new mobility technologies.

Year after year, Toyota receives awards for our cutting-edge technology.

Toyota was ranked as the Top Automotive Innovator by the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) for three consecutive years, receiving more patents for innovation than any other automaker.

Toyota also received the most 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards of any brand (as of Sept. 7), and the 2017 Automobile Journalists Association of Canada’s (AJAC) Canadian Green Car and Green Utility Vehicle of the year awards for the Toyota Prius and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

Toyota strives for continuous improvement by developing, testing, and introducing new technologies to make our vehicles cleaner, safer, more reliable and more fun to drive than ever before.

A perfect example of this is the all-new 2018 Toyota Camry that was introduced to Canadians this summer.

The new and improved passenger car brings together a suite of innovative Toyota technologies — all into one model.

The new Camry is the first to take full advantage of Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA).

This innovative approach to platform and powertrain design helps deliver features such as superior handling — which includes more responsive steering, snappier acceleration, and confident braking.

TNGA also allows us to engineer vehicles with bolder styling and improved fuel efficiency.

The new Camry also features many state-of-the-art safety systems — headlined by Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), a bundle of active safety technologies that enhances driver control.

TSS joins a long list of safety technologies that are standard features on almost every model we build, as Toyota continues to strive for our ultimate goal: A world without traffic fatalities.

Technologies also enhance the experience of owning and driving a Toyota.

The new Camry introduces Entune, a set of advanced in-vehicle connectivity services.

Depending on the model, these include popular mobile applications and navigation featuring Scout GPS Link, available Safety Connect, and Destination Assist Connect.

Entune is standard on every new Camry, and will be introduced across the Toyota fleet.

We also offer the new Camry in hybrid models, featuring a completely redesigned advanced powertrain — the Toyota Hybrid System II.

This system sets new benchmarks for power and efficiency, and is a core technology in our commitment to making personal transportation more environmentally responsible.

With so many of these technologies on the road today, Toyota continues to invest in research and development to create a better, safer, and cleaner tomorrow.
