3 Of the three cultural venues in the Chesterfie­ld Street site, two have their futures secured. Beside the new home for the Polygon Gallery, a new $5.5-million North Vancouver Museum is being built in a city-owned space in a condo complex across from the art gallery. The city is working to find a new home for the theatre in the next few years. $400,000 Between the Polygon and Tap and Barrel to the east, Richardson Internatio­nal has donated $400,000 for a water feature in a new plaza scheduled to open early next year. 1,600 SQ.M. The redevelopm­ent of the shipyards will include a 1,600-square-metre (17,000 sq. ft) covered ice rink — about double the size of the one at Robson Square — and a 750 sq. m. (8,000 sq. ft) water park slated to open in the winter of 2018-19. Both the rink and public water park will be free for the public. The $40-million project, a partnershi­p between the city and Quay Property Management, includes a restaurant and 72-room hotel. 6.5 KM The city is spending $6 million on completing its 6.5-km section of the Spirit Trail this year, a greenway and bike and pedestrian path that will eventually stretch from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove. The trail will pass by the waterfront side of the Polygon. $10M In late 2018, TransLink is expected to start on an $10-million project to improve the area between the SeaBus Terminal and the covered bus tunnel and create a more welcoming area for people arriving in North Vancouver.
