DOS AND DON’TS FROM DR. FUHRMANN

-

Dr. Joel Fuhrman says he wouldn’t touch this stuff — even if he was starving:

Soda pop

Fried foods

Candy

Chips

Commercial baked goods

— anything made with white flour

Sweetened dairy products

Deli meats

Processed meat, such as

hotdogs

Smoked meat or fish

Barbecued animal products

Fuhrman recommends following a nutrient-dense and plant-rich nutritarian diet:

A good start is to eat a

large salad at least once a day. Load up your salad with shredded cabbage, tomatoes, sliced red onion, and a creamy dressing made with nuts and seeds.

Make a large pot of a

vegetable bean soup, stew, or chili over the weekend, then reheat a portion for lunch each day at work.

Exchange sugary desserts

for fresh fruit or frozen fruit sorbets.

Start using animal products

in smaller quantities, as a condiment or flavouring agent, not as the main focus of the meal.

Eating more high-nutrient

foods blunts the desire for low-nutrient foods.
