Mudhoney, Odds among headliners for city’s Westward Music Festival

A couple of well-known rock ’n’ roll names from the Pacific Northwest highlight the first list of performers slated to appear at the Westward Music Festival in Vancouver next September.

Seattle grunge legends Mudhoney and Vancouver alt favourites Odds will play the festival, produced by MRG Concerts, which will run its second edition Sept. 13 to16.

Other artists leading this year’s lineup are British artist Blood Orange, two-time Grammy nominee Kali Uchis, rhythmic pop star Kelela and YouTube sensation Poppy.

“The MRG Concerts team and myself are very much looking for- ward to the 2018 edition of Westward. Due to the incredible support from Vancouver over the past year, we have been able to grow the festival to include more shows and venues, all while keeping with our mission to provide the city ’s music fans the memorable experience­s they are looking for,” Matt Gibbons, president and founder of MRG Music Group, said in a media release.

Other acts announced in this first round are alt-indie artist Angel Olsen, R&B downtempo soul act Rhye electronic duo Honne, Canadian punk band Metz, and Indigenous synth-rock band Nehiyawak.

Pre-sale of tickets begins Wednesday at noon, with the actual sale starting next Tuesday at noon. Tickets are available at westwardfe­st.com, ticketfly.com and at Red Cat Records in Vancouver. 2018 Westward music fest lineup:
