Politicians show contempt for court

-

Did any of Canada’s political leaders attend the Colten Boushie trial at the Court of Queen’s Bench?

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, along with certain ministers of his government, have shown contempt for the courts without any firsthand knowledge of what they condemn. Given their criticism of the verdict, how can Canadians maintain respect for our justice system?

Pandering to a family that disagrees with a court decision based largely on said family’s racial heritage is unacceptable.

This performance, along with the media releases from certain parliamentarians, shows disrespect not only for the court, but also for the accused (and acquitted) individual, and the members of the duly appointed jury who gave of their time in service to their country.

If this family takes issue with the outcome of the trial, do they not have the same access to the appeals process as any other Canadian family would have?

In my memory I can’t recall another instance where the prime minister of Canada has interceded to such an extent for any family that objected to a Canadian court decision.
