A MEAL TO REMEMBER

Chef’s ‘passion project’

- ANTHONY GISMONDI

It’s been 15 years since the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance launched its earliest programs, and its first report released this month shows 127 wineries producing over 74 per cent (211 million cases) of California’s total wine production and 1,099 vineyards farming 134,000 acres (about 22 per cent of statewide wine acreage) are certified sustainable. The program was updated in 2017 to allow use of a new logo on labels for wine made in certified wineries with 85 per cent or more of grapes from certified vineyards.

Marquis Wine Cellars and Nammos Estiatorio (153980 Fraser St.) are teaming up to showcase the arrival of eight Greek wine gems at a brunch on April 15. Tickets are $74.99, including tax and gratuity from marquis-wines. com, or 604-684-0445.
