Lemongrass House brings Thai touch to Gastown
Gastown has been a hot spot for new retail shops lately. And one of the latest additions to the neighbourhood is a North American exclusive.
Lemongrass House, a Thailandbased spa and skin care brand recently set up shop at 209 Abbott St., stocking a full selection of the company’s natural products in its new store.
Maxine Druker, the co-owner of Lemongrass House Canada, stepped away from the new shop to chat body products, what makes Lemongrass House different and why she’s sure Vancouver will be a perfect fit for the brand.
Q For those who aren’t familiar, what is Lemongrass House?
A Lemongrass House produces premium, all-natural, handcrafted, artisan spa products and fragrances and sells them to customers in retail stores in 17 countries. We also supply them to top hotels and spas around the world. With the newly opened location in Vancouver’s historic Gastown district, Lemongrass House products are now available in North America for the first time.
Q Who are Lemongrass House products for?
A Our products are for every body — even dogs.
Q What makes it different from other body/skin care brands?
A All of our products are handmade in our production facility in Phuket, Thailand using the purest, all-natural ingredients, and they come in a wide variety of exotic fragrances using our own distilled essential oils. They are paraben and sulphate-free, and are never tested on animals. ... Our products are created by artisans who sign the packaging. With Lemongrass House, you know what is in the spa product you buy, where it came from, and who made it.
Q What made this the right time to open a store in Vancouver?
A Vancouver is the perfect city to launch our brand. Vancouverites are very ecologically aware and they search out ethically made products that are good for the environment and that deliver what they promise.
Q Lastly, what’s next?
A We are incredibly excited for the launch of our e-commerce through our website lemongrasshousecanada.com. With our e-commerce site, Canadians across the country will be able to purchase our products online and have them shipped directly to their home. As much as we love to see people in our Gastown store, we also know that not everyone can come here in person and we want them to have easy access to our incredible, allnatural and handcrafted artisan spa products.
