Police say a scuffle Friday inside a nightclub at the Trump Tower in Vancouver is not linked to protests against the U.S. president, who is on a working visit to the U.K.

Officers were called after a “disturbance” broke out at Drai’s Vancouver nightclub inside the Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver just before 11 p.m., spokesman Sgt. Jason Robillard said in an email. The nightclub was hosting Eko, a regular Friday event featuring dancing and DJs.

“There were reports of a large crowd with pushing and shoving and starting to fight,” Robillard said. “Officers attended and broke up the disturbance. There were no reports of any criminal charges, serious assaults or injuries.”

Robillard said three people were arrested for breaching the peace. He said the scuffle was “fuelled by alcohol and overcrowding,” and in no way linked to protests in the UK.

A representative at Trump tower referred a request for comment to management at Drai’s, who could not immediately be reached.

Eyewitness Samantha Mack tweeted that she was leaving the gym Friday when she heard yelling and saw hundreds of people in “party clothes” outside the building, some crying.

Donald Trump has no stake in the building, owned by Vancouver-based developer the Holborn Group, though it has been the site of protests related to his presidency since its opening last year. Its branding comes from Trump and is licensed by his company.
