A Vancouver Vietnamese restaurant might have the best restroom in Canada.

Anh and Chi, located in Mount Pleasant, is among the top five finalists in a Best Restroom contest being hosted by bathroom supply company Cintas Canada.

According to the restaurant’s write-up, Anh and Chi’s genderneutral washrooms “transport guests to a tropical rainforest with its iconic Martinique wallpaper, mirroring Vietnam’s lush jungles.” The facilities also boast wooden cabinets, custom-made doors, gold Kohler faucets, fully enclosed stalls replete with candles and aroma reeds.

The other four finalists include bathrooms located at the Erin Mills Town Centre (Mississauga, Ont.), Oretta (Toronto), the Saskatchewan Science Centre (Regina), and St. Albert Honda (St. Albert, Alta.).

The finalists were selected from a pool of restrooms nominated by the public across Canada earlier this year, based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The contest is hosted by Cintas, a workplace supplier company.

“From restaurants to education centres to malls and even car dealerships, this year’s finalists showcase the best of the best in washroom decor, cleanliness and function,” said Cintas spokeswoman Candice Raynsford in a statement.

“Our contest celebrates businesses that go the extra mile to improve customer satisfaction by maintaining clean, innovative facilities. We’re excited to find out which washroom will win the public’s heart and be crowned this year’s winner!”

The winner will be selected by public vote and will receive a prize package from Cintas worth $2,500 in facility services.

If it wins, Anh and Chi can add “best restroom” to its other awards.

The eatery snagged bronze in Vancouver Magazine’s 2017 Restaurant Awards, best Vietnamese in the Westender’s Best of the City rankings, and gold for best Vietnamese and bronze for best bartender in the Georgia Straight’s Reader’s Choice Awards.

Last year, Toronto’s Bayview Village Shopping Centre nabbed the title of Canada’s best restroom for its “elegant” decor, chandeliers, cushioned chairs, and touch-free toilets, taps and hand dryers.
