Buble’s big Burnaby home may be complete: neighbours
Years-long build of mansion met with early criticism for its square footage
After years of construction, it looks like superstar crooner Michael Buble’s more than 27,000-squarefoot mansion in Burnaby, located across from his childhood elementary school, may be nearing completion.
The house made news in 2016 when some neighbours complained that the fence surrounding the compound during construction was too high. On Wednesday, however, several nearby residents told Postmedia that construction seems to have wrapped up and they are happy with how the house looks.
“I know it’s very large in square footage ... but it’s all very low, and the landscaping and the hedges have all been really well done,” said Yolanda Noort, who lives one block away. “We think it’s just wonderful.”
The mansion, designed by Michael Green Architecture and located on Government Road, across from Seaforth Elementary, is assessed at $11.8 million. The property includes tennis courts and a swimming pool.
Two years ago, Buble told TV host Kelly Ripa he was building a hockey rink in the basement.
According to B.C. Assessment, the home, which sits on a 2.3-acre

Noort said the family — Buble, his wife actress Luisana Lopilato and their three children Noah, Elias and Vida — has a high profile, so she thought it was appropriate that there was a high fence surrounding the compound.
“The hedges are high, but they are not as high as some other properties in the area,” she said. “He could have gone anywhere in the world, so the fact that he has a home here in Burnaby, where he grew up, is really great.”
Other neighbours echoed Noort’s opinion, saying they were pleased that the famous singer may soon be moving into the neighbourhood.
One neighbour, who did not provide a name, said her son went to the elementary school with Buble, and thought it would be neat to see him around the neighbourhood. She said they were relieved construction appeared to be over after three years.
The mansion’s developer, Daniel Moscone, would not say Wednesday if the house was finished.
“I will not comment on anything to do with the Buble house,” he said.
A request for information from Buble’s Vancouver agent Bruce Allen was not returned by deadline. Michael Green Architecture also did not return calls. Buble, who will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, hosted the 2018 Juno Awards in Vancouver in March.
The 42-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer returned to the stage this year after taking time off as son Noah underwent successful treatment for liver cancer.
Buble was born in Burnaby on Sept. 9, 1975, to Lewis Buble and Amber Santaga. He is the oldest of three children.
Buble’s father was a fisherman and was often out at sea, which meant Michael spent much of his time with his maternal grandfather.
It was his grandfather’s record collection that introduced him to the world of jazz and soul music, inspiring him to pursue a life of performance.
In 2008, Buble became a partowner of the Vancouver Giants hockey team, having professed a love for the sport and the Vancouver Canucks. His dressing room rider while on tour includes a request for one hockey puck from a local team.
The same year, he began dating Lopilato and the couple were later married in 2011.
