CRAWFORD, Mary Eleanor

-

November 13, 1923 − September 24, 2018 Mary Eleanor Crawford ( nee Gooderham) With her family present, Eleanor Crawford passed away peacefully on September 24, 2018. Predeceased by her husband Jack in 2003, she leaves behind four children, seven grandchildren and nine great−grandchildren. She is also survived by her cherished sister Elizabeth Robinson ( Ottawa). Eleanor was born in Gleichen , Alberta where she spent her early years playing pond hockey with the boys, skiing behind cars, and pranking the neighbours. After two years of "refinement" at the Banff Mountain Boarding school she moved to Vancouver and attended UBC. There she evolved into a glamorous sorority sister and met her future husband Jack. Together they raised their family in Kerrisdale.

Always a competitor, Eleanor was an avid curler, golfer, skier and bridge player. She was recognized for her achievements at both the local and provincial levels. The yearly camping vacation, along with memorable road trips to Montreal and California, instilled a love of the outdoors in Jack and Eleanor’s children that has spread to the next generation as well. The family is grateful to all those who assisted Eleanor over her time without Jack, with special thanks to the staff at Elim Village Harrison 2West for their kindness and care during her years there. No service by request. Go out and play golf!
