OCEAN VILLAGE RESORT, TOFINO

- Marieke Goldie

It all started about 15 years ago when my mom and dad surprised my brother and I to a trip to Tofino as a Christmas gift. We went in October and had a cabin that was right on the edge of the beach and the first thing we noticed when we got to the cabin was … .no TV, no radio and no phone.

The following year my parents once again took us both back to Tofino as a Christmas gift. That year though they wanted to take us to another resort. We both asked “why?”

Their response was “Well you would probably enjoy a place with a TV, radio and phone.” We both replied “absolutely not!”

Ocean Village Resort has given us years of family togetherness — walking on the beach, wildlife viewing, sitting on the couch talking, reading, eating together, enjoying a glass (or two) of wine, playing cards and games, listening to West Coast storms, shopping together.

My parents ended up taking my brother and I to Ocean Village Resort for almost eight or nine years in a row and I truly wish we could do it over, and over and over again.
