Do you hear that? It’s the sound of drills and band saws gleefully firing up for home renovation season. And HGTV is more than ready to provide inspiration with a slate of new and returning series.

Reno expert Bryan Baeumler and his interior designer wife, Sarah, will build on the success of their previous shows House of Bryan and Bryan Inc. by giving viewers a front-row seat as they move to an island in the Bahamas and renovate an abandoned resort.

“The kids aren’t in high school yet, and everything was at the right point to make this crazy change,” Bryan told Postmedia News. “This type of travelling is so valuable — we’ve gained so much perspective on what you really need in life.” Island of Bryan debuts April 7. HGTV viewers can also expect new seasons of favourite shows, including Property Brothers (March 11), Restored by the Fords (March 28), Backyard Builds (March 28), Love it or List it Vancouver (April 1), Flip or Flop Vegas (April 3), Masters of Flip (April 10) and Sarah Off the Grid (April 21).

Designer Sarah Richardson of Sarah Off the Grid builds on her experience of constructing an offthe-grid property in Season 1 by transforming a decrepit 19th-century country home into a sustainable rental property in Season 2.

Richardson said the build in Season 1 remains one of the most memorable projects she’s done.

“We did it together, as a team and as a family against the odds of location, weather, timelines and size,” she said. “It just proves that the harder you try, the luckier you get.”
