Chicken Girl

Vancouver Sun - - BOOKS - Heather Smith Penguin Random House

Poppy, a 16-year-old girl with a penchant for vintage clothing and an optimistic outlook on life, has a change of heart — and wardrobe — after she’s trolled by online bullies. Life gets worse before it gets better, largely thanks to a job at a local restaurant that requires her to dress in a chicken suit and wave a sign at passersby. But with support from her twin brother, who has his own troubles after he comes out as gay, and a few tough lessons learned from a diverse group of new friends, she discovers she can take a few hard knocks without cracking.
