Cara earns Slaight award

Brampton, Ont.-born Alessia Cara will receive the 2019 Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour at Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards Show, organizers said Wednesday. “Such a genuine honour to be recognized this way by my home country,” the 23-year-old said. “Knowing that I’ve made any impact at all, let alone something of this capacity feels incredible.” The annual award recognizes the achievements of young Canadians who inspire others through their musical talents. The awards show is slated for Nov. 23 at Toronto’s Convention Centre.
