Creepy and kooky digs up for rent
In honour of the new animated Addams Family movie, travel and accommodations search engine Booking.com has posted a spooky replica of the fictional family’s home that your real family can enjoy just in time for Halloween.
The interior recreation of the creepy mansion is filled with references to the classic horrifying household, from Wednesday’s beheaded dolls to Morticia’s carnivorous plants.
At noon ET on Oct. 28, the three bedroom, 3,700 square-foot, 19th-century townhouse located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn will become available for one-night reservations from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1, for US$101.10 per night.
“Decorated in true Addams Family fashion, there are vases of just rose stems, and yes, Lurch’s famous ‘you rang’ bell,” reads the posting. “The experience comes complete with spooky snacks, a screening of the feature film, branded amenities and more.”
The Addams Family was created by cartoonist Charles Addams in 1938, and became a TV series in 1964 that ran until 1966.
The frightening family comprising mother Morticia, father Gomez, children Pugsley and Wednesday and their numerous companions has since been the subject of a number of high-profile film and TV adaptations.
A living room lit by candlelight showcases the famous polar bearskin rug and a black peacock chair. Pugsley and Wednesday’s bedrooms are decorated according to each young characters’ macabre interests, and feature a queen and twin bed respectively.
The king-sized bed is appropriately located in Morticia and Gomez’s darkly-decorated, black-curtained master bedroom.
Prospective guests be warned — the posting is clear visitors should be prepared to encounter Thing — the family’s famously disembodied hand — while exploring the premises.
