While the idea of being connected to technology — a smartphone, television, tablet or even a car — is not a novel idea, being able to stay connected to the world around us in meaningful ways is a refreshing, appealing one.

For Subaru Canada, it’s all about connecting with our customers in new ways and helping them connect with the world around them.

The upcoming year marks a milestone for Subaru Canada and our customers as we launch the allnew 2020-model year Legacy and Outback, as well as Subaru Starlink Connected Services that advance the safety and convenience we provide to our customers.

The 2020 Legacy and Outback usher in a new era of connectedness at Subaru with the introduction of Subaru Starlink Connected Services. Using the nationwide 4G LTE cellular network — and completely separate from customers’ mobile devices — Subaru Starlink allows customers to stay connected to their vehicles while also allowing them to receive important information to keep them safe.

Subaru Starlink Connected Services is integrated directly into the vehicle; the system uses voice-response technology with the addition of live assistance to deliver concierge services or emergency assistance in the event of a collision. The system also allows customers to remotely access vehicle features, schedule service appointments with dealers, remotely start the engine and set boundary and curfew alerts, among many others.

Updating our product lineup to offer vehicles that Canadians want to drive remains our strategy as we position Subaru as an appealing alternative to mainstream brands by creating vehicles that deliver the core values that Subaru represents, including adventure and versatility; performance; quality; safety; durability and reliability.

Of course, the big news for Subaru is the introduction of the allnew 2020 Legacy and Outback, two very important vehicles for our customers.

The seventh-generation Legacy is sure to shake up the mid-size segment just as it did when it was first introduced three decades ago, offering the comfort and convenience features Canadians want with the peace of mind of standard Symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive and Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight driver-assist suite of safety features.

Built on the Subaru Global Platform, which is engineered to meet and exceed current and future safety standards, the all-new Legacy is able to absorb more than 40 per cent more energy in the event of front and side collisions. At the same time, the Subaru Global Platform delivers a more dynamic drive and a quieter cabin.

Inside that cabin is an available tablet-style, vertically-mounted, 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system improves convenience for both the driver and passenger by integrating most of the comfort, convenience and infotainment controls into a centralized location that is intuitive and easy to use.

In the Outback, we deliver those same safety, comfort and convenience features with the added go-anywhere abilities that have been synonymous with Subaru’s sport utilities for the last 25 years.

The 2020 Outback is the safest and most capable Outback ever. The all-new sixth-generation version combines a smooth and comfortable ride with unmatched off-road prowess thanks to 220 millimetres of ground clearance, and Symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive. It comes standard with X-Mode, which optimizes the engine, transmission, all-wheel drive and brakes for incredible traction on slippery surfaces and steep inclines.

Making the Outback even more capable is the ability to tow up to 1,590 kilograms when equipped with the available turbocharged 2.4-litre Subaru Boxer engine that delivers the output of a six-cylinder with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder. Also available in the Legacy, the turbo engines produce 260 horsepower and 277 pound foot of torque to power through the trickiest conditions.

For those actively seeking out those tricky conditions, there is the all-new Outback Outdoor XT. It includes enhanced features such as a dual-function version of X-Mode that offers Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes, front view camera, full-size spare tire and weather-resistant soft-touch upholstery that’s as easy to clean as it is on the eyes.

Along with a dealer network across the country, Subaru Canada is connecting with our customers in new and exciting ways with a lineup of vehicles, technologies and features that allow them to enjoy every adventure with confidence.
