Nine fashion creatives and companies from B.C. have been named to the list of nominees for the 7th-annual Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA).

Outdoor brand Arc’teryx, footwear brand Casca, accessories company Herschel Supply Co., photographer Greg Swales, charity-focused fashion company Obakki and jewelry company Wolf Circus are just a few of the local brands named among the 17 award categories including the Accessory Designer of the Year Award, Outerwear Brand of the Year, the Joe Fresh Fashion Innovation Award and more.

“We are so excited to honour these distinguished individuals, and would like to thank all of the brands and creatives who have taken the time to submit their applications this year,” Vicky Milner, president of CAFA said in a news release. “We are always amazed by the calibre of talent we have here in Canada, and are grateful for the opportunity to continue to shine a spotlight on these noteworthy people and brands.”

Model Maye Musk, the groundbreaking model and entrepreneur (she’s also the mother of Tesla founder Elon Musk) will be honoured at this year’s event with the 2020 Outstanding Achievement Award. Other honourees include Drake’s brand October’s Very Own (OVO), which the rap superstar co-founded alongside Oliver El-Khatib and Noah Shebib in 2008, will receive the Vanguard Award, while designer Tanya Taylor is set to be honoured with the International Canadian Designer Award.

Winners were scheduled to be announced at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto on May 29, but the awards have been postponed to the fall, according to event organizers. See the full list of nominees and honourees below:
