TRIPP, CLINTON WHISTLEBLOWER, DEAD AT 70
Linda Tripp, a key figure in the scandal that nearly brought down the administration of Bill Clinton over his affair with Monica Lewinsky in 1998, died Wednesday. She was 70. Tripp, who had worked as a White House secretary, befriended Lewinsky, a former intern who confided that she had a sexual relationship with Clinton. Tripp secretly recorded their conversations and turned over the tapes to independent counsel Kenneth Starr.
