ABBEY ROAD ADD-ON UNDER FIRE
Bosses at London’s legendary Abbey Road studios are engaged in a planning dispute with local residents over a proposed music school. Plans have been drawn up to expand the studio, where The Beatles recorded most of their hits and shot an iconic album cover, by opening a school for production and sound engineering in a nearby building in west London. But neighbours have slammed the proposal, insisting it could ruin their neighbourhood, fearing increased traffic and noise from students would create disturbances late at night. A spokeswoman for the Abbey Road Institute, which forms part of the studio, tells British newspaper The Times: “We have really valued the input and feedback from local residents so that we have been able to address any concerns and give peace of mind at each stage of the development.”
